2019 Subaru Outback vs. 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  • The new 2019 Outback starts at just $26,345 MSRP while the new Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at $31,695 MSRP. That's over $5,000 that you can save choosing the Outback, allowing you to upgrade to the Limited trim level for around the same price as the base Grand Cherokee model.
  • Even though both the new Outback and Grand Cherokee are widely regarded for their off road ability, only the Outback comes equipped with standard all-wheel drive. The Grand Cherokee, on the other hand, comes equipped with standard rear-wheel drive and offers a variety of available 4x4 systems.

  • The Grand Cherokee offers a more powerful standard engine than the Outback does, but that allows the Outback to trump the Grand Cherokee in terms of fuel economy. The Outback offers up to 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, making it a great option for commuting around Sandy and for travelling into Sandy, South Jordan and beyond. The Grand Cherokee, however, offers up to 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
  • The Outback is more spacious than the Grand Cherokee is. The Outback offers up to 108.1 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 73.3 cubic feet of cargo space when you fold down the rear seats. The Grand Cherokee offers up to 105.4 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 68.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded flat.

  • The Outback comes with standard raised roof rails, making it easy to attach a roof rack for skis, bicycles, kayaks, and other equipment. The Grand Cherokee offers roof rails as an available option.
  • Every 2019 Outback model comes equipped with a standard Eyesight Driver Assist Technology system, offering standard safety features like pre-collision braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. The Grand Cherokee offers similar safety features, but only as available options.
  • The Outback offers available LED steering responsive headlights with automatic high beam assist, both features that you won't find on the Grand Cherokee.
